  3. Hosting options for small business sites
  4. Checklist before going live
  5. What developers need from you
  6. Do not skip SSL

Domain + hosting in plain language

  • Domain — your name on the internet (yourbusiness.in)
  • Hosting — the server where website files live
  • DNS — phonebook that connects domain → hosting
  • SSL — padlock / HTTPS (required for trust and SEO)

You can buy these yourself or ask your Freelance Web Developer to set up — either way, register the domain in your name.

Where Indians commonly buy domains

  • GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains (Squarespace), Hostinger, BigRock
  • Prefer .in for local trust; .com for global brands

Cost: ~₹500–₹1,500/year for common TLDs

Hosting options for small business sites

| Type | Best for | Notes | | ---- | -------- | ----- | | Shared hosting | WordPress, simple sites | Cheapest, good to start | | Managed WordPress | Owners who edit content | Auto updates, backups | | Vercel / Netlify | Next.js static sites | Free tier OK for marketing sites | | VPS | Custom apps | Needs technical ops |

Checklist before going live

  • [ ] Domain registered to your email account
  • [ ] HTTPS working (redirect HTTP → HTTPS)
  • [ ] www vs non-www — pick one, redirect the other
  • [ ] Business email (hello@yourdomain.com) or forwarding
  • [ ] Backup enabled on hosting panel

What developers need from you

Share:

  1. Domain registrar login or DNS access only
  2. Hosting panel or deploy keys (Vercel/Git)
  3. Brand assets (logo, colors, copy)
  4. List of pages and reference sites

TechBisht can deploy Next.js sites to Vercel and hand over docs — website timeline.

Do not skip SSL

Google marks HTTP sites as “Not secure.” Free SSL (Let’s Encrypt) is standard on modern hosts.
