GBP gets you on the map — your website closes the deal

Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) powers the local map pack, reviews, and call buttons. Your business website provides depth: full services, pricing hints, portfolio, blog, and conversion paths Google cannot host.

Use both — not one or the other.
